changed his name to broadband bandit. And well ya... he named doors and what-not then blaimed it on a minge earlier

So this is why i suggest disallowing rp name in the server - so noone can hide.

I'm leaving the decision up to you guys :) .

People can abuse anything. They can use props to surf, block, DM, and even try to crash the server, but we still have them. They can use guns to DM the shit out of anybody, but we still have them. They can use /votecop to arrest/kill whoever they want, but we still have CPs. They can use the many exploits in Dark RP to fuck everyone over, but we still use Dark RP. We can't just take away everything that has the potential to be abused, we would end up getting rid of everything. Plus we need RP names. You have no idea how many people join with names copy and pasted from charmap that nobody can read.

I could understand that, but all those little things like DMing can be handled with a simple kick or ban. Dark RP has many flaws with counter actions. Demote is for getting rid of cops that abuse stunstick and arrest stick. Demote spammers get vote kicked or banned. Props have a HUGE rp use in Garry's Mod. It's one of the main reasons Garry's Mod is used for RP. Physics. If you don't want physics in RP, switch to TSRP. But when you start getting names mixing and stuff you could end up banning the wrong guy. I'd much rather keep RP names, but this is something that might just cross the line.

EDIT: We should just kick anyone with names that are just random symbols and stuff. If they come in with a name like that, they are expecting not to get kicked because you can't type it in.

All of the above that patient has listed can easily be found out by a admin that has eye balls.

This on the other hand is hard to figure out. You can't see through the name unless you know and check their steam id. Knowing that its a friend of yours can completely change how you view their actions. For instance, you, patient, might let another friend admin dm up a storm (even though your not supposed to i'm sure this could happen) and this person could be a name impersonator.

I'm trying to say... do you really want some minge to come in with an admin's name and be able to kill lots of people with nothing said against him out of the fear of kick?

can any player use ulx who? When I was just a player/ass admin I never could... but I think it was just a conflicting mod (PCMod).

If it was my friend, chances are I'm going to have them on my friends list. And if I shift tabbed and saw that they weren't in gmod, I would know it was an impersonator.

You can change your steam name too, just like you can change your RP name. Getting rid of RP names does nothing.

If you feel like someone is being a minge then you report them, it doesn't matter who they are. Austin is an admin, people know that, and krzygrasshopper reported him anyway because he felt like he was admin abusing. Actually, lots of us have been reported in the past, by people who knew very well that we were admins. What's the point of the report section if people are going to be afraid to report anyone they recognize?

A couple days back maybe the day before christmas eve. Some person abused this too. Kept coming on and changing his name. Then DMed. The hard part about getting rid of him was that his steam name had a bunch of symbols. All he did /name call it 003064698 or something along the lines and kept DMing. I think a map change would do better to get rid of these folks.
